About the Theatre Catalogs
Theatre Catalogs can be a great source for information. We've collected and posted some of them here for viewing and searching. These rare hardcopy books have been scanned and digitized using OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology so that searches can be performed. This technology is not perfect so you may see words or phrases that are not captured correctly. However, we hope that what has been captured is useful to you.
Catalog Publication and Contents
Theatre Catalogs were published through the 1960s by a company called Jay Emanuel Publications of Philadelphia. They were an annual publication that began in 1941, created for theatre owners and operators. These 'annuals' contain information about both indoor and outdoor theatres, including sections on construction and innovations of that time. Some issues even included a directory of drive-ins operating at that time. The hardcopy books are now hard to find.
Depending on what Adobe product you have installed, you may have the ability to zoom in or out of the pages we've presented here. To find out, use your mouse to right-click in the body of a theatre catalog page. If you have zoom capabilities, a menu of zoom tools will appear.
If you possess one that is not represented here, and you would like to have it scanned and made available for all online, or you are interested in selling one, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
